Residents of Colombia pay IVA on their accommodation, as the law requires; foreign residents pay no tax on hotel accommodation. A small contribution to our impact fund is added to each stay. It makes no profit for the house: it goes to social and environmental projects in Cartagena and on Barú Island.
How can I pay?
By credit or debit card: Visa, Mastercard and American Express. A reservation is confirmed with the payment of the full value of the stay.
What do I need at check-in?
A valid passport or Colombian national ID for every guest, as Colombian law requires. Guests under 18 check in with their parent or legal guardian.
What time are check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 3 pm and check-out is by 12 noon. If you need to arrive earlier or leave later, tell us and we will do what we can.
What if I need to cancel?
We refund 50% of the value of your stay when you cancel up to 30 days before check-in. Within 30 days of check-in the payment is neither refundable nor transferable. A 3% administration and banking fee applies to refunds, and a cancellation must reach us in writing. The full text is in our Terms and Conditions.

Can I take the whole house?
Yes. The Full House is yours alone: six king bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, the pool and the roof terrace, for up to twelve guests, with concierge, catering, room service and turn-down service.
What does the house take care of?
Concierge, room service, evening turn-down, laundry and ironing. The concierge can arrange whatever you need during your stay in Cartagena.
Is there a pool?
Yes. The pool is in the courtyard, on the ground floor, and is open to guests of the house at any hour. Upstairs, the roof terrace looks across the cathedral spires of the old city.
Is breakfast included?
Breakfast is served in the house each morning. It is included with the Deluxe rooms, the suites and the Full House.
How many rooms does the house have?
Six, for a maximum of twelve guests. No two are the same. Each has a king bed, its own bathroom, air conditioning and WiFi, and each is named for a commodity from Las Indias that once delighted Europeans.
Can I combine the city with the islands?
Yes. Casas Altas, our sister house, sits on a hilltop above the Bay of Cholón on Barú Island, between 30 minutes and an hour from Cartagena on our boat. Write to us and we will plan both stays together.
How far is the airport?
Rafael Núñez International Airport (CTG) is 6 km from the house, about 15 minutes by car or taxi. Send us your flight details and we will help you arrange the transfer.
Where is Casa de la Renta?
In El Centro, the walled heart of Cartagena de Indias, on Calle Estanco del Tabaco. The clock tower, the plazas, the churches and the old fortifications are between five and twenty minutes away on foot.
